Yosemite Skiways 1939

I have been seeing on maps a old ski run that is referred to as the “Inspiration Ski Trail” or “Inspiration Skiway” It seems they called ski runs out of Badger ” Ski Ways”.

The Inspiration Ski Way starts at Ostrander Hut on one map but in many old movies they go out the Dewey Point Trail #14. They gain the ridge and then follow it down to the west end of the Wawona Tunnel/Turtle Back Dome area. If there was enough snow i suppose they could ski down to Old Inspiration Point then to Inspiration Point or all the way down the old road to Bridalveil Area.

The Inspiration Skiway starts at 9:15

There are old postcards that show skiers on a ridge with El Captian and Half Dome in the background and they were taken on this “Inspiration Skiway”

This old movie has great scenes of Badger Pass, Strawberry Creek, etc
