NEW AND HAPPENING TODAY

Pile Burning Planned In Yosemite Valley
Now that there has been some precipitation, Fire Management plans to ignite piles in Yosemite Valley. Pile burning could start as early as Monday, December 10th, and continue until the end of the year. Burning these piles of woody debris will help clean up the forest floor and aid in minimizing the risk of a high-intensity wildfire occurring in the future.  (J. Peach)

CONSTRUCTION & TRAFFIC DELAYS

Work To Continue On Highway 140 through 12/14
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform one-way traffic control on eastbound and westbound State Route 140 (SR-140) from the Merced-Mariposa County line to Yosemite National Park. A striping operation will involve the use of one-way traffic management from the Merced/Mariposa County line to Indian Flat Campground beginning Monday December 10th, ending Friday December 14th, from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Furthermore, slope stabilization and cleaning operations require one-way traffic management between Slate Gulch and the park boundary beginning Monday December 10th, and continuing through Friday December 14th, from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Motorists should expect 15 minute delays. Work is scheduled to begin as advised, but is also subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and construction related issues.  (J. Donovan)

Wawona Road Delays
Weather permitting, starting Monday, December 10th, crews will begin repairing the Wawona Road within the Ferguson Fire burn area (Between the Rostrum and Chinquapin).  As part of the repairs there will be single lane traffic control with up to 30-minute delays, so please be patient and schedule additional time when traveling through this area. This work will continue through the end of January.

Work Schedule and Delays Starting December 10th:
Monday through Friday
7am to 5pm –  Traffic delays up to 30 minutes (Hopefully, the delays will be less because crews are trying to keep alternating traffic moving thru the construction zone, however please plan on the 30-minute delays for the travel time)

No weekend or night work is scheduled at this time.  (M. Pieper)
